Overview
You can change the main password to your web hosting account. Before you begin, make sure you have closed all windows that are currently open and associated with your control panel.
/!\ PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD! /!\
Protect Your Password
Do not write down your password, memorize it. In particular, do not write it down and leave it anywhere, and do not place it in an unencrypted file! Use unrelated passwords for systems controlled by different organizations. Don't give or share your password, in particular to someone claiming to be from computer support or a vendor unless you are sure they are who they say they are. Do not let anyone watch you enter your password. Do not enter your password on a computer you don't trust. Use the password for a limited time and change it periodically.
Choose A Hard-To-Guess Password:
Our system will try to prevent you from choosing a really bad password, but it isn't foolproof; create your password wisely. Don't use something you'd find in a dictionary (in any language or jargon). Don't use a name (including that of a spouse, parent, child, pet, fantasy character, famous person, or location) or any variation of your personal or account name. Don't use accessible information about you or your environment, such as your phone number, license plate or social security number. Don't use a birthday or a simple pattern, such as backwards, followed by a digit, or proceeded by a digit. Instead, use a mixture of upper and lower case letters, as well as digits or punctuation. When choosing a new password, make sure it's unrelated to any previous password. Use long passwords (say 8 characters long). You might use a word pair with punctuation inserted, a pass phrase (an understandable sequence of words), or the first letter of each word in a pass phrase.
Changing Your Password
Steps
1. Enter your current password in the "Old Password" text box.
2. Enter your new password in the "New Password" text box.
3. Enter your new password in the "New Password (again)" text box.
4. Click on the Change your password now! button.
To create a custom error page for your account you will need to upload a file with the appropriate file name to the account.
The will be named according to the HTTP error code the page corresponds to. To create a custom page for 404 errors you would upload a page named 404.shtml. For a 403 error it will be named 403.shtml
The server will automatically recognize the custom error pages for the primary domain name on your account if the file is named with a .shtml extension.
Setting a custom error page from the cpanel or by manually editing the .htaccess file for the root domain will apply that error page for all domains on the account. To create separate custom error pages for an addon or sub-domain you will need to create a .htaccess file in the addon or sub-domains folder with an 'ErrorDocument' command. The format for the command is:
ErrorDocument *Error Code* http://domain/page
^Be sure you replace *Error Code* with the specific error code you are referring to. For example if you are creating a 404 page you will need to replace *Error Code* with just 404
For an addon or subdomain the error page path must be a fully qualified URL.
You can use the ErrorDocument command to redirect page errors to a file name with an extension other than .shtm
Yes, a manual for the control panel, cPanel is available. Please go to http://www.cpanel.net/docs.htm to view it.
Overview
cPanel 11 has a built-in wizard that can help you configure your control panel quickly. The "Getting Started Wizard" provides seven (7) configuration sections you can take step-by-step to get your system configured properly.
The seven (7) configuration sections are:
* New Email Account Setup
* Access Email through Webmail
* Update Contact Information
* Setup Default Address
* Subdomain Configuration
* Change cPanel Look and Feel
When the "Getting Started Wizard" page loads, you have two choices:
* Use the "Jump to Section" (You can use this feature at any point during the wizard. It appears on every page and allows you to "jump" to any of the seven (7) configuration sections.
* Click on the Begin Wizard button to through the wizard and each step.
To make a remote connection to the server you must add the IP address of the server you are trying to conenct from to the list of 'access hosts' on the 'MySQL databases' page of the account cpanel.
Once you have added the IP address you will need to re-add the users to the databases to ensure the correct access permissions are applied.
To connect to the server you would use the account domain name or IP address as the hostname and the database user name and password that you created on the 'MySQL database' page of the cpanel.
When you have a website online, you may want to check on how many people are coming to your website. cPanel does more than just that. cPanel actually has several built in statistic reports. The most detailed and my favorite is AW STATS. This statistic report gives much detail in not only the amount of people coming to your website but other in formation like:
- Monthly history
- Days of month
- Days of week
- Hours
- Countries (Top 25)
- Hosts (Top 25)
- Authenticated users (Top 10)
- Robots/Spiders visitors (Top 25)
- Visits duration
- Files type
- Pages-URL (Top 25)
- Operating Systems (Top 10)
- Browsers (Top 10)
- Connect to site from
- Search Key phrases (Top 10)
- Search Keywords (Top 25)
- HTTP Error codes
To access this information, please do the following:
1. go to your cPanel
2. Click AWSTATS (under "Logs")
You are now looking at the statistics for your domain.
1) In cPanel select the link "MySQL Databases." 2) In the "Db:" section specify a name for the database that you are creating (ex: store, forum, etc..). After you have specified the name click "Add Db" and the database will be created.
3) In the "Users:" section specify a "Username," & "Password" for the database that you are creating (Note: you may use the same User/Password for all of your Databases).
4) At the bottom of the "Databases:" section you will now see "User: (username_yourname)," "Db: (username_databasename)." Select the "User" from the left dropdown menu and "Db" from the right dropdown menu that you want to use. "Click Add User to Db."
After your database is created you can manage it from phpmyadmin. This can be found at the very bottom of the MySQL page.

The File Manager is a tool you can use to navigate your way through your web hosting account and view directories, create directories (folders), uploade/delete/view/edit files, view the size of your directories/files, rename files/directories, and see the permissions of your files/directories.
At the top of File Manager you will see "Current Directory" and the path to the current location you are viewing on your web hosting account. Underneath the "Current Directory" display is a "Go Up One Dir" link. You can click on the "Go Up One Dir" link at any time to move up a directory regardless of your current location.
When the File Manager tool loads you will see a four-column table consisting of the following information:

To navigate from one directory to another, find the directory you want to ascend into in the "File" column. Then click on the Folder icon in the "Type" column for the associated directory you want to ascend.
To use the file or directory, click on the directory/file name in the "File" column. A set of tools will be displayed in the top-right corner of the File Manager screen. View your options below:
